Sneak Peek

Perfectly Imperfect Parker

Written By Dana Fonash
Illustrated by Molly Mann Ziegler

A little boy peers down a row of trees during the McMillen family’s annual trip to select a Christmas tree-not realizing he will be teaching lessons to his family that day.

For years, Gangly Fir has watched trees all around him get picked, while he has endured bullying barbs from other trees. “Ha, you think that boy is seriously considering taking you home?” sneers Towering Timbers with a deep, barking chuckle. “That idea is almost as crooked as your trunk!”

Perfectly Imperfect Parker is not just a heartwarming holiday story, but also conveys practical and important lessons about Bullying, Self-Esteem, and Acceptance. While its setting is seasonal, our diverse and interconnected world gives Perfectly Imperfect Parker’s message year-round relevance to children and adults.

 About Dana Fonash

Dana Fonash was born in New York and moved to State College, Pennsylvania when she was 11. She attended Denison University and Penn State University. Her husband Dave and their two children, Alec and Nina, were the inspiration for this book because she felt the issues of bullying and learning how to be independent are consistent topics in their lives. A first-time author, she hopes this book encourages important dialogue among children and adults, and helps readers appreciate the power of words to support self-esteem and self-acceptance—all while enjoying a sweet holiday story.
